Hurricane Preparedness
for Boaters
South Florida is the most hurricane vulnerable area on the United States Atlantic Coast, yet until 2004 the Treasure Coast had not been impacted by a major hurricane in many years. Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne's visits changed the face of our area and will take the marine community years to recover from.

This year, be prepared, have a plan. Know what you are going to do and do it early, before a watch or warning is issued.

Above all, DO NOT remain on your boat during severe weather. The links below contain a wealth of materials on preparing your boat for a hurricane. Materials are also available at the MIATC office.
