15 Reasons to Join MIATC
1 Legislative Strength
MIATC monitors legislative activities, both on the local and the state level. The association keeps local government officials apprised of the industry's position on issues and it keeps its members informed about pending governmental action. MIATC also is affiliated with a Political Action Committee, which contributes to the campaigns of those leaders who are responsive to the marine industry's needs. There IS strength in a unified voice and membership numbers.
2 Automatic Membership in State Association
Your membership in MIATC also gives you a voice at the state level. The Marine Industries Association of Florida (MIAF) and its lobbying firm also monitor state legislative activities and introduce legislation that benefits our industry.
3 Marketing Opportunities
Inclusion in the Treasure Coast Marine Information and Business Guide, a valuable reference guide. Advertising and editorial opportunities in Boatlines. Ad space (paid) in the Business Guide, boat show programs, newsletter and other event materials. Participation in boat shows. Sponsorship opportunities for boat shows, Christmas boat parades, monthly membership meetings, annual meeting, and more.
4 Business Contacts
MIATC offers you many opportunities to network within the marine community, both locally and at the state level. Meet your fellow professionals, build and develop personal relations, meet the competition, and make new contacts.
5 Financial Benefits
Discounted rates at boat shows and discounted advertising rates in the Treasure Coast Marine Information and Business Guide.
6 Education
Your MIATC membership helps keep you informed about local and industry issues through monthly general membership meetings, special forums, a e-mail hotline, MIAF website, MIATC office library, and the association's newsletter Boatlines.
7 Special Interest Groups
In addition to general membership meetings, MIATC has recently initiated meetings for special interest groups within our membership base. These include a Marina/Boatyard Operators group, and soon a Brokerage/Sales group.
8 Boat Shows
MIATC will stage two major boat shows this year the Stuart Boat Show in January and the Boats & Bats show at Tradition Field in St. Lucie West during April. Both shows are owned and sponsored by MIATC and are managed and produced by All Sports Productions. These shows provide your business with the opportunity to present your product or service to the public in a professional setting. They also showcase the recreational boating industry along the Treasure Coast as well as bring thousands of people to our area.
9 Referrals
It is common for MIATC members to do business with other member firms and it is the Association's policy to provide the names of member firms when requests are received for products or services.
10 Listing in Marine Information and Business Guide
MIATC members receive a free alphabetical listing and up to six business classifications listings in the annual Marine Information and Business Guide. An additional feature of the guide is an alphabetical listing of the Association's representative with the company's name listed for even greater ease in locating a member.
11 Membership Identification
All members are entitled and encouraged to display your MIATC membership plaque and the Association logo in your place of business, as well on your stationery, business cards, advertisements and website. Being a MIATC member sets you apart in the community and from other marine businesses. It also lets your customers know that you belong to the second largest marine trade association in Florida.
12 Membership Meetings
MIATC conducts meetings throughout the year giving you an opportunity to network within the marine community. Guest speakers are often brought in to inform, entertain and educate the members about what is happening in the industry.
13 Socials and Camaraderie
Being a MIATC member isn't all business! Our annual meeting and Christmas boat parades give you an opportunity to socialize and develop friendships with other members.
14 Newsletter “Boatlines”
All members receive a copy of Boatlines several times a year. It contains informative articles about recreational boating subjects, industry news, legislative updates, calendar of events and membership profiles. Members are encouraged to send newsworthy information about their company, a product, a service or accomplishments for inclusion in the newsletter. Just another way to promote yourself and your company!
15 E-mail/Fax Hotline
MIATC constantly monitors issues that may affect the marine industry and your business. When the news is “hot” and needs to be distributed more quickly than by mail or listed in Boatlines, notices are distributed either by e-mail or fax to keep you informed of important and timely issues.

Requirements for MIATC Membership
Any licensed proprietorship, partnership or corporation engaged in selling goods or services related to the marine industry, or individuals qualified by the MIATC Membership Committee are eligible for membership.
